July 4, 2025 — A Taste of Culture and Tradition
On July 4th, 2025, Joerene Academy held its much-anticipated Cultural Week, celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of Uganda. The event brought together students, teachers, and parents in a colorful showcase of tradition, unity, and creativity.
Learners enthusiastically cooked a variety of traditional dishes representing different regions of Uganda. From matoke and groundnut sauce to malewa, luwombo, and millet bread, the school compound was filled with the delightful aroma of Ugandan cuisine.
Adding to the festive mood, students dressed in cultural attire from across Uganda’s regions proudly represented their heritage through dance, music, storytelling, and drama. Each performance gave the audience a glimpse into the customs and values of Uganda’s diverse communities.
The Cultural Week not only deepened students’ understanding of their roots but also encouraged pride in Uganda’s rich traditions. It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and love for culture — a true celebration of national identity at Joerene Academy.
